Power of a Smile

Dale Carnegie once stated “the expression one wears on one’s face is far more important than the clothes one wears on one’s back.”

We often grow up hearing things like turn that frown upside down or your smile can change the world, but why are these lines so popular? Well according to The Start of Happiness 2012 “research has shown that smiling releases serotonin – a neurotransmitter that produces feelings of happiness and well being.” This chemical that is released from our bodies has a natural ability to make not only ourselves, but those around us feel instantly better. So the next time you or a friend are feeling down instead of lamenting take a second to smile. You will be surprised by a smiles ability to “ calm fear, insecurity, hurt and anxiety not only in yourself, but in those that are experiencing those feelings” (Start of Happiness).
