What Happened? Adam Lanza shot and killed twenty children and six adults at Sandy hook Elementary school. (Rivera) This atrocity was committed on December 4th, 2012. Lanza first shot the principal and school psychologist. From there he shot two classrooms of first grade children and their teachers. There was one survivor from the first class, and six from the second. Police arrived within three minutes of a call from the school. They found Lanza dead after shooting himself, accompanied by dead adults and children. The officers evacuated the children, though many teachers resisted until they were sure the children would be safe. The effects were hard and long lasting. One Officer was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The shooting at Newtown was a terrible event. In the US, this shooting is second only to the 2007 Virginia Tech massacre.
Heal the world from all such calamities, catastrophes, atrocities, crimes ..... and give us the strength and courage to combat and confront such situations. |
