History of War

The First World War or World War I began on June 28, 1914. The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand is believed to have started the first war (answers.ask.com). If there wasn’t any violence involved in the beginning there wouldn’t have been a war! During World War I 4,386,000 people died and 8,388,000 were injured! Violence is never the answer. If that one person didn’t kill Archduke Franz Ferdinand those 4,386,000 lives would have been spared and those 8,388,000 didn’t have to suffer.

How Society is Affected

Right now in the world there are 43 wars going on (chacha.com)! Sadly, with war often comes death and with a number that high it is still astounding to learn what death toll numbers are around the world as a result of war. According to Steven Reinberg, " researchers estimate that 5.4 million people died from 1955 to 2002 as a result of wars in 13 countries." The world isn’t such a nice place right now. Nothing good comes from wars and nothing good comes from fighting or any violence. It will never help the situation or any situation.

Who is Affected?

War is no longer just a mans fight. It affects people of all ages, gender, and sizes. All this violence isn’t just affecting the people in them. They are affecting everything and everyone! In fact according to the High Plains Society, "Globally, there are at least one million children separated from their parents because of war, and there are many thousands who have been traumatized even more directly by war." While most of us may feel that we are only one person and there is nothing we can do to stop the traumas of the world we need to take a look at what we can do, little by little to help Heal the World.

What Can We Do?

Asside from working to maintain peace, as kids we can reach out to our Veterans. It is important that we thank them for their hard work and dedication to serve our country. At PJMS we create cards for our Veterans every Veterans day. Below is one of the many cards made this year.
